Marc Baltzan, MDCM

Trained in residency at McGill University, Dr. Baltzan is certified with the American Board of Sleep Medicine and is a fellow of The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). He is the Medical Director of the OSR Medical Sleep Disorders Center in Montreal, which is also accredited by the AASM and a member of the Sleep Partners network. He works at Mount Sinai Hospital and teaches at McGill University as well as frequently giving conferences in continuing medical education.

B. Keith Blankenship, DDS

Dr. Blankenship received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Microbiology, as well as his Doctorate in Dentistry from The Ohio State University.

He has continued studying advanced dentistry, earning Fellowships in Advanced General Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, Implant Dentistry Prosthetics, Neuromuscular Dentistry, and TMJ and migraine pain management.

Steve Carstensen, DDS

Dr. Carstensen earned his DDS from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1983, and is in private practice in Bellevue, WA. Beginning in 1988, he has been a continuous student at the Pankey Institute, was invited to join the visiting faculty in 1996, and serves on the Advisory Board to the L.D. Pankey Foundation. In 1998, he worked with his first dental appliance for sleep apnea, and in the past several years has helped hundreds of sleep apnea
patients using oral appliance therapy.

Shouresh Charkhandeh, DDS

Dr. Charkhandeh received his DDS and Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Alberta Canada and earned his Fellowship from Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

Dr. Charkhandeh maintains a group of private practices in Edmonton and Calgary with a focus on Dental Sleep Medicine, TMD and advanced occlusal reconstructive cases. He is actively involved in research to improve treatment outcome predictability for OAT using “SomnoMed MATRx,” and is the “Product Development & Research” Special Advisor at Zephyr Sleep Technologies. Dr. Charkhandeh is a major advocate for the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to Dental Sleep Medicine which focuses on the collaboration of Sleep Physicians, Sleep Dentists and CPAP Providers.

Leopoldo Correa, B.D.S., M.S.

Assistant Professor and Head of Dental Sleep Medicine Section Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Member American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Correa received his dental degree from the University of Veracruz, Mexico, in 1995, he completed his clinical training on Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain at the Craniofacial Pain Center.

Nabeel Farah, M.D.

Dr. Farah is a graduate of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and returned to The University of Texas Southwestern to complete his sleep medicine fellowship. He is board certified in sleep medicine, and he is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is in private practice, and his clinics are based in Dallas, Texas.

Wesley Fleming, M.D.

Double board certified in sleep medicine and neurology, Dr. Fleming is a Member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and lectures extensively on the topics of sleep apnea and narcolepsy. He is one of the only Sleep Medicine fellowship trained physicians in Orange County, California.

Barry Glassman, D.M.D

Dr. Barry Glassman, maintains a private practice in Allentown, PA, which is limited to chronic pain management, temporomandibular joint dysfunction and dental sleep medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, a Fellow of the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, a Fellow of the Academy of a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management.

Robert Horchover, DDS

Dr. Horchover’s dental sleep medicine practice began 15 years ago following 27 years of general practice in Alaska. He soon encountered few guidelines and many diverse opinions. The sleep medicine community was also skeptical and early generation devices shared some common design features that limited their success.

Timothy Mickiewicz, DDS

Dr. Timothy Mickiewicz, a 1982 graduate of the University of Pacific Dental School, has been a pioneer in the integration of dentistry and medicine with particular emphasis on Temporomandibular Disorders, Facial Pain, Sleep Medicine and complex restorative dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management.

John Remmers, M.D.

Dr. Remmers was the first to demonstrate that sleep apnea is due to an anatomical narrowing of the pharynx. He went on to develop various technologies and medical devices to treat this condition, most notably the Tranquility CPAP® (continuous positive airway pressure) device, which was licensed to Healthdyne generating $160 million in sales prior to its acquisition by Respironics in 1997.

David Schwartz, DDS

Dr. Schwartz has been a practicing general restorative dentist since 1988. He has expertise in all fields of dentistry with a concentration in Dental Sleep Medicine for the last 12 years. He has educated dentists around the world on the benefits of dental sleep medicine and has lectured at various study clubs and dental organizations including LVI, Northwest Indiana Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, and SomnoMed.

Kent Smith, DDS

Dr. Kent Smith is the co-founder of the Dental Organization for Sleep Apnea and is on the advisory Board of Sleep Healers®, a medical group operating sleep centers and conducting workshops on sleep disorders. In 2006, he was asked to create a Sleep Disorder course at LVI Global, and is the lead instructor of their three-day program. He regularly lectures on sleep breathing disorders both nationally and internationally for study groups and dental laboratories.

Rick Smith, DDS

Dr. Rick Smith has been in private practice in Santa Cruz, CA for over 28 years. He received his DDS Degree from the University of Pacific in San Francisco, CA in 1981. In 2003, he became a credentialed member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and reached Diplomate status with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2004.
